Are you interested in helping MABL as a volunteer?

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  

You will need to:

Be in a good psychological place yourself 

Good listening skills

Understand and accept client confidentiality

Help victims feel understood and accepted

Be non-judgemental

Be non-directive – it’s not about telling victims what to do or what YOU would do

Recognise all victims are different

You may come into contact with victims who:

Are drug and/or alcohol dependant

Work in the sex industry

 Are suicidal

 Have no confidence

 Have a learned helplessness

 Are depressed

 Have psychological damage

 Have had their children taken from them

  Are choosing to live in an unsafe situation

  Do not have the same cultural norms as you

  Do not share the same moral code as you
